In the Dreaming
Dec. 8th, 2005 12:10 amIt's a wide hall, with a vividly colored banner on each wall: gold, green, red, and blue.
"Form on your squad's color," Andrew's saying. "Make sure you get a good look at everybody in the room; these are your allies. These --" He points to a large picture beside the gold banner -- "are the people we're here to save. Anything else in that alley that isn't human? Kill it."
There's a handful of people already there; six young women under the green banner, and a young man who arrived a few minutes earlier under the blue one. He may look familiar, to any denizens of the bar who know Connor Reilly.
"Gold Squad, your priority is Angel and his people -- that's Spike, Gunn, and Wesley if he makes it this far. Form a defensive perimeter around them and Heal any injuries they've already taken.
"Blue Squad, you're going to be circling around and hitting the demons from the rear. Your priority is to find the portals they're coming through and close them, by whatever means necessary.
"Red and Green Squads, you're hitting the army's right and left flanks respectively. You don't have a specific objective beyond doing as much damage as you can.
"Squads should stay as close to a unit as possible. Blue, you're the exception there; you may need to split up to deal with the portals, there'll probably be more than one. Healers, you stick with your squad as much as possible, but if someone in another squad needs you, you go. Angelina and I will be circling the battle to keep tabs on everybody; we'll let you know where you're needed.
"Also --" Andrew holds up his arm, on which there is a bright bracelet. "Each of you should have one of these. It'll let you vanish back to the Dreaming if you're badly injured. It responds to thought and intent, so just will yourself back here if you need to."
A pause.
"Any questions?"
There don't seem to be any.
"All right."
Andrew takes a deep breath.
"Let's go."
