The Flight
Sep. 28th, 2006 11:14 pmIt's all but impossible for a vampire to travel overseas by commercial airline. The flight's too long to take place entirely at night, and you can't avoid the windows.
Which means that Andrew and Jonathan are the only members of Angel's team boarding the flight for Heathrow from Kennedy.
The final phone call he has to make, just before the plane leaves the gate, is picked up by someone Andrew doesn't know. Which suits him just fine.
"Listen very carefully," he says without preamble. "This is Andrew Wells. In about twelve hours, Jonathan Levinson and I will be arriving at Heathrow. We'll arrange our own transportation to Council headquarters, which shouldn't take much more than another hour. That's how long you have to arrange a full Council meeting, because we have a report that needs to be delivered in person. Have you got all that or do I need to repeat myself?"
A pause, listening.
"No, I don't imagine you do. Which means you're in luck, because as soon as you get the word to someone who does have the authority to call a full Council meeting, your part of the job is over. You might want to get on that."
He clicks the phone shut in his hand, turns it off, and looks at Jonathan. "Are we good?"
"We're good," Jonathan confirms.
"Whatever happens."
A nod. "Whatever happens." And Jonathan grins. "I'll be sure to request commendations for you all..."
"...In whatever fleet we wind up serving in," Andrew joins in. His answering grin only lasts for a moment, before fading into a sober determination. "Yeah."
