Nov. 7th, 2006 03:59 pmThings have fallen into a routine, back in New York. Andrew and Jonathan now discuss their reports to the Council with the others beforehand, and make them directly from headquarters; they're able to contribute a bit more financially, too, now that their last six months' wages are out of escrow.
Even without advertising openly, the team's getting a definite reputation as people who can get things done. And there's always a lot to do in this city -- the vampires alone are enough to keep both them and the two local Slayers busy pretty much indefinitely.
There's more than just the vampires, of course; New York's not quite as much of a demon town as Los Angeles, but it's got enough of the sentient races to have a thriving subpopulation, and enough of the verminous or parasitical races (such as the bone-dissolving vyelth grubworms of last month) to baffle any number of mundane exterminators. And it's got far more than its fair share of witches, sorcerers, summoners, practicioners of the black arts, dabblers in Weird Science, and damn fools who call up eldritch powers by accident.
But it's not until close to the end of December that they first hear a name that hasn't come up in quite some time.
